Diet Failure: Reason #97

A while back on a public access channel, we saw a review of The Gourmet Pizza Shoppe in Redlands. We figured it was fancy because they used the Middle English version of ‘shop’ (side note: I hate when people use ‘shoppe’ and ‘centre’ as a way of fanci-fying their establishments -- annoying …but that’s not the point of the post.). So the guy on the show had all kinds of crazy pizzas like some that have pasta on them and a dessert pizza made with peanut butter and jelly. So while we waited to see King Kong, we ran across it and thought we’d try it. The place is not as fancy as it sounds but it was cute.

I love breakfast food, so I ordered the Granny’s House mini pizza. It had (in order from crust to top) country gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sliced potatoes and cheddar cheese.

Fred’s a big Mexican so he had the Oaxaca pizza which had refried beans, enchilada sauce, ground beef, black beans, rice, green chiles, Cholula sauce, and corn chips. (j/k about Fred being a big Mexican…he’s just a normal, assimilated Mexican. He chose this pizza because he has a fast metabolism and he can eat crazy quantities of food and since I do not have a fast metabolism, he is leading me down a dangerous road. Fred: Diet failure #1).

My pizza tasted like a breakfast sandwich and Fred’s tasted like nachos. So I guess this wouldn’t be the place for pizza purists. I want to go back and try the All-American Burger and Frankenstein Pizzas but I don’t think I’ll be trying the Wild Mayan. Here’s a menu (scroll down to the bottom to see the dessert pizzas). I wonder if Susan’s been here because they have a pizza named the Suzy Wong.
